Chlorinated organic chemical emissionsGraphs include new 2007 data. Data on emissions to air and water for 22 chlorinated substances have been collected since 1985. This data includes all the chlorinated products in the EPER (European Pollutant Emission Register) list but also several others. A target of a further 75% reduction to water and 50% to air has been set for 2010 compared to the 2001 baseline. In 2004 pentachlorobenzene was added to the list of chemicals being monitored. At end 2007, the COC emissions from manufacturing plants confirmed globally the results of 2006; for the water compartment, the value stayed at the level of 69% reduction, but for air the performance slightly decreased from 50 to 48% a year earlier. 08/2008
