All six member companies of the European Chlorinated Solvent Association (ECSA) met the first registration deadline for chlorinated solvents under REACH - the European regulation covering the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals.
ECSA members have been well prepared to register chlorinated
solvents under the European REACH regulation. A Chlorinated
Solvents REACH Consortium has been formed including a Steering
Committee, an Executive Committee and Technical Committees for five
chlorinated substances. ReachCentrum was acting as secretariat for
the consortium. The Chlorinated Solvents REACH Consortium was
launched beginning of 2009, after 1 year of preparatory work.
All ECSA members took part in it.
The consortium members have agreed to cooperate, under the
leadership of one leading company per substance in the preparation
of a joint registration dossier for each of the 5 substances. The
lead companies of the REACH consortium have been elected by the
SIEF (Substance Information Exchange Forum) to act as the lead
registrant for a joint submission of the registration dossier of
the substance.
