Vila-seca plant to produce even more chlor-alkali in Tarragona
Euro Chlor member Ercros is planning a further expansion of its chlor-alkali plant in Vila-seca, Tarragona. This second planned expansion of an additional 26,000 t/year of chlorine and caustic soda production capacity is expected to come into operation by the end of 2018, making a projected Ercros total production capacity of chlorine-soda of 191,000 t/year. Ercros' Vila-seca I plant was the first in Spain to introduce membrane technology in 1992 and, at present, is the largest chlorine and caustic soda production facility located in the territory.
The first expansion took place in December 2017 and accompanies additional production works at Ercros’ Sabiñánigo factory.
More information on the expansion can be found on the Ercros website.
