London - Titanium dioxide takes on a new role to cut pollution from road traffic. Work to lay a hi-tech pavement designed to lower pollution levels has started in London. The surface of the slabs contains titanium dioxide which "eats" nitrogen dioxide gases in car exhaust. Chlorine plays a vital role in the production of pure titanium dioxide, which is used in countless applications including medical devices, food preparation surfaces, air conditioning filters and now pavements. These paving slabs have already been used in Milan and Paris where, according to the inventors, they have successfully reduced air pollution.

September (25,537 tonnes). For the month, chlorine production stood at 837,414

Brussels - Western European caustic soda stocks dropped dramatically during September. After a vacation-inspired rise of 7.5% in August to 287,900 tonnes, inventories fell 15% (42,000 tonnes) the following month to 245,522 tonnes. This was due to a combination of high demand and scheduled maintenance.
