Dolf van Wijk new Executive Director of Euro Chlor

Dolf joined Euro Chlor, the Brussels-based federation representing the European chlor-alkali industry, in 2001 as Science Manager. Here, he provided advice and counsel to the federation’s committees and working groups on chlorine-related science issues, including risk assessments. In 2010 Dolf was appointed Science and Regulatory Affairs Director, reflecting Euro Chlor’s policy of science-based decision-making and transparency on chlorine chemistry.

Since 2014, Dr. van Wijk has been acting as the Managing Director of the World Chlorine Council, a global co-operation of chlor-alkali industries representing over 90% of the world’s chlorine production capacity. His extensive international experience includes active participation in the UNEP Stockholm Convention on POPs and the Minamata Convention on mercury.

A Dutch national, Dr. van Wijk was employed by AkzoNobel from 1990–2001 as manager of the firm’s Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry in Arnhem, The Netherlands. Dr. Van Wijk obtained a PhD in 1989 at the Radboud University of Nijmegen. He is the author of over thirty publications in the field of environmental sciences and has given presentations for various international symposia and workshops.
