Euro Chlor launches Chlor-Alkali Industry Review 2020-2021

26/11/2021

The 2020-2021 Chlor-alkali Industry Review has just been launched at https://chlorineindustryreview.com in time for Euro Chlor’s Annual General Assembly on 26 November 2021. The theme of the publication this year focuses on how the launch of the third new Sustainability Programme converges with Euro Chlor’s Mid-Century Strategy for a Sustainable Chlor-Alkali Industry. Its first introduction piece from Managing Director, Marleen Pauwels, looks back at the past two 10-year programmes. She noted how hard our Euro Chlor team and members had worked to provide full incident reports (for 8 out of 10 incidents), organise safety trainings, develop a modern interactive safety game, draft guidance for emergency departments in case of chlorine intoxication, and develop some relevant new communication material.

The second introduction piece from Chairman of the Management Committee, Wouter Bleukx, gives a preview of Euro Chlor’s third new Sustainability Programme, which is also being launched at the Annual General Assembly as you can read here. He focused on the implementation of our Safe Loading and Unloading Commitment and the valorisation of our high-quality and low-carbon hydrogen by-product.

The Industry Review, first produced more than 26 years ago, covers the most important industry information from the past year with key stories, updates and figures. This year the sections have been updated to the four Mid-Century Strategy priorities of Safety Leader, Competitive Supplier, Climate Neutral Player, Circularity Champion. Two additional sections give Halogens Industry Sector News and Collaboration & Outreach activities.

As in previous years, a summarised version of the review is also available in print version that has been sent by post to all Euro Chlor members and partners, will be distributed at key events and can be downloaded as a PDF from the bottom of https://chlorineindustryreview.com/.
