Member Covestro and UN begin joint project

26/04/2017

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in collaboration with Covestro, have launched a new initiative that aims to find young people with innovative solutions for environmental problems.

Six ‘Young Champions’ from each of the UN’s regions, aged between 18-30, will be selected by a global jury on the basis of their ideas and their potential for positive future impact on the environment.

Winners will receive $15,000 (around 14,700 euro) to kick-start their projects, as well as training and mentoring in order to make their ideas a reality. Covestro, a Euro Chlor member company, is helping to sponsor and judge the projects.

The Covestro CEO, Patrick Thomas, praised the competition, noting that “sustainable thinking and acting is critical in preserving our planet and improving the safety and quality of life for millions of people”.

The first application round ends on 18 June 2017 and more can be found on the UNEP website.
