Nouryon announces plans to expand MCA capacity in the Netherlands

07/08/2020

Euro Chlor member company, Nouryon has announced plans to increase production capacity for monochloroacetic acid (MCA) in the Netherlands. The expansion is planned at their Delfzijl chlor-alkali site and will complete by the end of 2020. As part of this, Nouryon has also began a study to free up more chlorine capacity, which is a key raw material for MCA.

Rob Vancko, Head of MCA and Strategy, Industrial Chemicals at Nouryon noted that “the expansion project in Delfzijl combined with the opening of a new joint venture plant in India later this year will increase our overall MCA production capacity by more than 20 percent".

MCA is used in the manufacture of many crop protection and personal care products. It also plays an important role in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
